Ali Raza Ruled Out as Pakistan Shaheens Prepare for England Tour
Pakistan Shaheens have suffered a significant blow ahead of their upcoming white-ball series against England Lions after fast bowler Ali Raza was officially ruled out due to a left knee injury.
Injury Confirmed After Medical Assessment
The young pacer reported discomfort during training, after which he underwent a detailed medical evaluation at the Pakistan Cricket Board medical facility. Doctors diagnosed a knee problem that requires a proper rehabilitation period, making it impossible for him to participate in the tour.
The PCB confirmed that the decision was taken as a precaution to prevent long-term damage. He will now remain under the supervision of trainers and physiotherapists at the National Cricket Academy until full recovery.
Replacement Named for the Squad
To fill the gap in the pace attack, selectors have included all-round fast bowler Muhammad Amir Khan in the squad. The youngster impressed domestic selectors with his recent performances and is expected to add both bowling depth and lower-order batting stability.
Team management believes the replacement will maintain balance in the squad despite the late change.
Leadership and Management
The Pakistan Shaheens squad will be captained by Shamyl Hussain, while former national team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed as mentor and team manager. His experience is expected to guide young players in foreign conditions.
Series Schedule
The matches will be played between Pakistan Shaheens and England Lions in Abu Dhabi from February 20 to March 9. The tour consists of:
Three T20 matches
Five One-Day matches
The series is considered an important platform for emerging players to push for national team selection, especially with international commitments ahead for Pakistan.
Importance of the Tour
Pakistan Shaheens tours traditionally serve as a bridge between domestic cricket and international level competition. The exposure against a strong England Lions side will test the temperament, skills, and adaptability of upcoming cricketers.
Although Ali Raza’s absence weakens the pace attack, selectors remain confident that the squad still has enough depth to compete strongly in the series
